Design for all of us -
agile assistive technology

Developing sustainable, open and adaptable assistive technologies fast.

What does this mean?

What does this mean?

...

Agile

We use development and manufacturing processes that are adaptable and we iterate quickly to retain flexibility. We engage with the community and publish our designs.

...

Adaptable

Devices will adapt to users to maximise ability and function. This could be through adjustment, replacing parts, adding or reducing complexity or configuring software.

...

Sustainable

Our activities and the products we develop will support the circular economy and be designed with sustainability and the full product and material lifecycle in mind.

...

Open

We will manage our intellectual property by licensing devices in a way that makes them available for the community to encourage ongoing support and development.

What we do

We believe there is an opportunity to develop assistive technologies using:

  1. an agile development process
  2. existing development platforms such as Arduino for electronic devices
  3. low cost, desktop and local manufacturing with minimal tooling or machinery investment
  4. established companies for low volume production processes such as laser cutting and CNC machining where components are outside of local capabilities
  5. community-led design
  6. sustainable solutions using a circular design approach.
